Many world design firsts unveiled in a transformational fit out at one of the world’s leading fashion designer stores.
The Portview team undertook an unusual retail interior project at Issey Miyake’s flagship store in Brook Street, London.
The interior concept involved the creation of several world design firsts for Issey Miyake, with features and finishes invented purely for the dramatic interiors.
The retail space, which was previously a dentist’s surgery, could not have taken on a more different transformation with all the old fittings stripped out to make way for incredible and unique features such as an anodised aluminium finish in a bespoke colour on large sheets of metal to the walls – the first of its kind in the world. The team worked to deliver the design and vision – the anodised aluminium finish to the wall features had never been done before.
There were a number of firsts here including a type of resin flooring, wall finishes and concrete render used – all of which had to meet exact specifications. This type of innovation and attention to detail is what makes this project stand out in international terms. The design and interior features resemble art installations rather than anything currently seen in retail interiors.
