Luxury fit-out specialist, Portview, has been shortlisted in the Retail Design category of the SBID International Design Awards. To date, the Belfast-based company is shortlisted for eight international and national awards for its achievements in exceptional design and interior fit-out.
The SBID Awards is regarded as one of the most prestigious accolades in the interior design industry representing talent and design excellence across all corners of the industry. Each entry undergoes an exclusive two-tier judging process by panels of leading industry experts for both technical content and aesthetic creativity and evaluates essential elements such as brief compliance, budget, health & safety, and fit-for-purpose design.
In collaboration with Virgile + Partners, Portview’s reimagination of the Menswear and Beauty Lounge departments in Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge, has been selected as one of the qualifying projects in recognition of its new “controlled disruption” design concept.
The public are now invited to cast their votes for their favourite entries at www.sbidawards.com, as their votes will be counted towards the overall results. Last year, the awards received over 40,000 unique voters during the voting period.
Founder and President of SBID, Dr Vanessa Brady OBE says:
“The range of finalists this year, across all 14 categories, is a true reflection of the creative scope of the global design industry, depicting an international portfolio of projects from over 40 countries worldwide.”
Entries were received from countries such Latvia, Taiwan, the Maldives, Armenia, Rwanda, Sweden, Mexico, UAE and more.
Managing Director of Portview, Simon Campbell, said:
“For Harvey Nichols, innovation always come back to how customers engage with the store and encourages customers to spend as much time as possible inside it.
“We enjoy a very strong, fruitful relationship with Harvey Nichols, who like us, push the boundaries of tradition to create spaces that are progressive, dynamic and effortlessly stunning.
“Using the Menswear department as an example, we juxtaposed traditional, luxury fabrics with more textured materials, such as egg cups, pebble dash, 3D sculpted plywood, brick slips and slate roofing tiles; to create a sense of movement like no other.
“Being shortlisted for the SBID International Design Awards is a major coup for us and is great recognition for our talented teams who work tirelessly to ensure every project is completed to the highest standard.”
The closing date for the public voting will be on Friday 25 August 2017 at 5.30pm GMT.
Winners will be announced and awarded with the crystal SBID International Design Awards 2017 trophy at the official ceremony, held at The Dorchester hotel London on Friday 27 October 2017.
The judges this year included industry professionals from global design corporations such as Aston Martin, BBC Radio 2 & 6; National History Museum, The Boeing Company, Google, AECOM and more.
