An impressive modern living accommodation project spanning six storeys that commanded pairing old design with new in a space that provides a contemporary residential facility to nurses and doctors.
This ambitious project involved the complete refurbishment of Orchard Lisle House in London which provides accommodation for student nurses and doctors at the nearby Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
The six-storey apartment block, located between city landmarks London Bridge and the Shard, provides 210 bedrooms comprised within cluster apartments of a mix of four, three, and two bedroom flats, as well as studio accommodation along with communal meeting and seating areas, entrance lobby, mail room and management suite.
The works entailed a complete strip out of the old building including mechanical and electrical, demolition and reconfiguration of the existing wall layout including the careful installation of new structural steel supports to deliver the architectural design.
Other works included window replacement, new electrical and mechanical installation including boiler replacement, new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, decoration and furniture. All carried out and managed by the Portview team within the 20 week programme to create the desired comfortable and modern living quarters for the medics.
“What we really liked about Portview was that they delivered on time and they understood that, for delivering student accommodation, it has to be available on time. They worked incredibly hard and did a very good job. We’re very happy; more to the point the students seem very happy. To have a combination of absolute commitment to time and delivery is a pretty good combination that is effective for any property owner. We’d be very happy to use Portview FitOut again and we’d certainly recommend them to others.”
