A period property that, for Portview, marked an application of retail finesse to residential sophistication
Discerning private clients, impressed by Portivew’s commercial portfolio have begun calling on Portview for similar expertise to be realised in a residential setting. Among these projects was the fit-out of the 1500 sq ft period property in one of London’s prime residential areas.
Having worked with AB Associates on a project for Kurt Geiger at a Knightsbridge department store, Portview was approached to negotiate the contract for the refurbishment of the apartment.
The twelve-week re-fit to the upper floor apartment, which has two bedrooms, both en-suite, kitchen, powder room, utility room, living and dining rooms, is part of an historic building, so a high-end re-fit was required involving the retention of period details and modernisation of the bathroom and kitchen.
Any historic details were carefully refurbished and restored to their former glory, including sliding sash windows. Due to the age and condition of the building, walls had to be replastered and Portivew reinstated features such as cornicing with new floors and joinery. New services were also installed as part of the apartment’s makeover.
Damp proofing to the bathroom and kitchen to prevent any water leakage to the homes below was key, as well as sound proofing to the floors.
