In-house Solicitor

We currently have a requirement for an in-house Solicitor. In this role you will review, manage and negotiate various legal aspects of the business, primarily focusing on contracts. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with Commercial Contracts experience to develop their skill set in a dynamic, fast paced environment. This is a part-time role working 25 hours per week.

The Job Role

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Drafting and negotiating contracts,consultant appointments, warranties/third party rights, trade contracts and other construction documentation
  • Advising on the construction aspects of development and finance agreements, including security documentation, such as bonds and guarantees.
  • Supporting the team on the wide variety of construction-related issues and dealing with ad-hoc construction-related legal queries
  • Advising on engineering contracts, construction procurement, including Two Stage JCT Design & Build and Construction Management.
  • Liaise with external legal advisers/insurance brokers
  • Participate in client/supplier meetings as required including travel to client sites
  • Maintain contracts in an orderly manner and raise awareness within the company of legal and related commercial risks associated with contracts
  • Provide training on contractual matters to assist business departments within the company
  • Communicate widely with all staff (e.g. team briefings regarding company specific information etc)

What are we looking for?

The following skills/experience are essential:

  • Qualified as a Solicitor in N Ireland (or similar jurisdiction) with at least two years’ post qualification experience.
  • Previous experience within a commercial legal role (to include involvement with large complex transactions)
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
  • A clean and full driving licence

The following skills/experience are desirable:

  • Previous experience within the construction industry
  • Previous experience of dealing with contentious matters
